1. What the site is, and isn't

TradeSalary publishes what skilled trades pay in each state and metro area, compiled from public government data, mainly the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), along with general information about training and licensing. We show the source and reference date for every figure. See our methodology for how each number is produced.

It is information, not advice. Nothing on TradeSalary is career, financial, legal, tax, engineering, or licensing advice. Pay figures describe wage and salary workers as a group; they are not an offer, a prediction of what you will earn, or a guarantee of any wage. Figures labeled as estimates, such as starting pay or pay by career stage, are derived from published percentiles and are not reported by any government agency.

Licensing information changes. Where we describe licensing, exams, hours, or fees, confirm them with the state or local licensing board before you apply, pay a fee, or start a program.

2. Who can use it

TradeSalary is intended for people in the United States. If you are under 18, use it with the permission of a parent or guardian.

3. Our content and how you may use it

The government data we build on is in the public domain. The way we select, combine, and present it, and our text, design, calculators, and code, belong to Northwoods Ventures LLC. You may quote individual figures and short passages with a link back to the page, for example “per TradeSalary”. You may not copy the site in bulk, scrape it, republish substantial parts of it, or use it to build a competing product without our written permission.

4. Links, partners, and how we make money

Some pages may link to or show offers from other businesses, such as training programs, schools, exam-prep courses, bond providers, and tool retailers. Those businesses are independent third parties. We may earn a commission or fee when you request information from them or buy through a link. That never changes the pay data, rankings, or calculator results we publish, and a link is not an endorsement. Their sites and services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use TradeSalary to break the law, to interfere with or overload the site, to scrape or copy our content in bulk, to impersonate anyone, or to misrepresent our data or where it came from. We may limit or end access for any of these.

6. Disclaimers and limits on our liability

THE SITE, AND EVERYTHING ON IT, IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. PAY FIGURES, ESTIMATES, LICENSING INFORMATION, AND CALCULATOR RESULTS MAY BE WRONG OR OUT OF DATE. YOU USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, NORTHWOODS VENTURES LLC AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROPERTY, PROFITS, INCOME, OR DATA, ARISING FROM THE SITE, ANY FIGURE OR CALCULATION ON IT, OR ANY THIRD PARTY YOU REACH THROUGH IT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100). Some states do not allow some of these limits, so some may not apply to you.

You agree to defend and hold Northwoods Ventures LLC harmless from claims arising from your use of the site, your breach of these terms, or your dealings with any third party you reach through it.

7. Changes and ending the service

We may change these terms. The effective date appears at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept it. We may change, suspend, or end any part of the site at any time.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut, to whose jurisdiction you consent.
